Dustin Reidy was born and raised in Scotia, New York.  Dustin graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School and then earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science at Skidmore College. Since graduation, he has settled in the Capital District and for the past thirteen years Dustin has lived in Guilderland with his wife Maureen.

Reidy’s early career was spent working in healthcare administration.  That experience gave him a front line view of the disparity between the incredible care received by patients with good healthcare by world class surgeons, and the financial calamity that affected patients without insurance.  Dustin had always had an interest in politics and public service, but it was his work in healthcare that focused his professional interests on striving to make his community a better place.

In 2008, Dustin helped start an all-volunteer campaign in the Capital District called Albany for Obama.  Albany for Obama opened an office during the New York State primary, made thousands of calls and knocking doors all across our community and then kept the office up and running to help elect President Obama through the General Election.   Dustin has also worked for Change to Win, a union federation, and he’s part of a proud union family- Dustin’s wife is a member of CSEA local 1000, his uncle is retired from IATSE local 52, and his father in law just retired from IBEW local 97.

In 2017 Dustin founded NY19Votes, its mission to coordinate efforts to flip Congressional District NY19 by coordinating Indivisible, Women’s Huddle and Resistance groups, engaging voters early and showing new activists how to knock on doors and conduct voter outreach campaigns. NY19Votes helped lay the groundwork to repeal and replace John Faso, training and deploying over a thousand volunteers through 2018 and registered hundreds of voters in the district. Many volunteers from the Capital District, NY19 and beyond canvassed for the very first time through NY19Votes and then led volunteer canvass sites in November of 2018 for Antonio Delgado’s successful campaign.

For the last 4 and a half years, Dustin has been the campaign manager for our Congressmember, Paul Tonko. Dustin is a constant presence with the Congressmember when he is in district. Through this work, Dustin has built strong working relationships with elected officials, organized labor and community leaders that will serve him well in the New York State Assembly.

In his second term on the Albany County Legislature, Dustin serves as Deputy Majority Leader and as Vice-Chair of the Law, and Audit and Finance Committees. During his first term, Dustin authored and introduced 4 bills, three dealing with the epidemic of gun violence and legislation providing incentives to construction projects meeting LEED certification in efforts to fight climate change.
